Woodforest Charitable Foundation and Woodforest National Bank Makes First Donation to Hunger Action Month!

SHFB in conjunction with Feeding America, announces Hunger Action Month, a nationwide call-to-action effort to mobilize people everywhere to get involved with ending hunger in America. Woodforest Charitable Foundation (WCF) and Woodforest National Bank (WNB) kicked off the month-long initiative with a $5,000 donation to Action Pathways, Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina (SHFB). Woodforest National Bank provided our first corporate donation, kicking off Hunger Action Month. We hope other businesses will follow their lead and donate or host food drives,” states Jim Thomas, SHFB Director. “Each dollar donated to Second Harvest Food Bank provides 5 meals for someone at risk of hunger in our community.” SHFB currently serves approximately 72,000 individuals each month—a number that continues to grow. To continue its success at meeting the growing need in a flexible and adaptive manner, SHFB needs the entire community to get involved. Ways to get involved include hosting a food drive, making a food or financial donation, volunteering, or becoming an advocate for hunger in this community.
